Let's Sing & Dance To Brighter Days With Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist S2
After a colorful and painful first season, Zoey is ready to take us on another turn through her Extraordinary Playlist.
Defying amazing odds, given the COVID-cloud hanging over the TV world, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is back for a second, sensational season to help us all sing the blues away.
Starring the lovely Jane Levy and created by Austin Winsberg, Zoey reemerges in sunny San Francisco just six weeks after living through her father’s decline and eventual transition. Though she’s still raw and reeling, Zoey knows it’s time to put one foot in front of the other and step into her future -- whatever that’s going to be.
Zoey’s heart may be shattered, but she has two guys who are more than ready to lift her up, and it makes for a messy situation. But while Max (Skylar Astin) and Simon (John Clarence Stewart) are trying to join Team Zoey, her boss (Lauren Graham) wants her deeper in the game at work and taking on more responsibility.
Thank goodness for best friends, though, right? We can always count on Zoey’s BFF (Alex Newell) to keep our girl pushing forward and not wallowing in self-pity.
The biggest thrill for loyal fans, though, is the music! Zoey gets her powers back, and they’re as glorious as you remember. Even better, the numbers flow between grief and joy, taking us through every emotion most of us have been feeling throughout this roller coaster of a year.
(via USA Today): As Zoey copes with her new reality, the series again balances its comedy and tragedy. The musical devices allow grief, and plenty of other emotions, to play out in bold, unsubtle ways. And for those frustrated with the love triangle in Season 1, which threatened to overstay its welcome, resolution in Zoey's love life happens sooner rather than later (but not simply happily-ever-after, of course).
Some people talk out their feelings, while others sing or even dance. With Zoey, we now have a weekly date to do all three with some of the most talented cast and contributors on TV today.
Season 2 episodes of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist air on Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT. You can stream past episodes on NBC.com or on Peacock.
