On Wednesday, June 29, BroadwayWorld debuted the series, which was created by James Ryan Caldwell and directed by Van Hansis and Melodie Sisk.
A gifted and conceited actress named Jenny Bump, whose acting career has failed, is the center of the dark comedy Ms. Guidance. After suffering an embarrassing breakdown on a New York stage, Jenny decides to give up performing. She goes back to the performing arts boarding school she went to as a child to work as a guidance counselor. Hearing her students' aspirations reawakens an old flame in her, and she devises a new scheme to gain notoriety at the expense of her close friends and family. Ms. Guidance is also a love letter to theater, the theatrical scene, and—most importantly—to theater artists who will stop at nothing to realize their ambitions.
Some of the actors in the show include Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox (Bring It On), Amber Gray (Hadestown and Macbeth), Van Hansis (Eastsiders), Tyler Hanes (Cats and Fosse/Verdon), Ian Unterman (Dopesick), Ashley Austin Morris (Inventing Anna), Amy Russ (Orange Is the New Black), Nikki Snelson (Legally Blonde), Kit Williamson (Mad Men), Marco Zun, Sam Faulkner (WILD: A Musical Becoming), Andrew Hollinger (This Is Us), Erin Kommor (Rise), Ginna Le Vine (Blue Bloods), and Antonio Marziale (Alex Strangelove).
A new episode will air every Wednesday in the afternoon.
